The Asia Pacific region is close to eliminating malaria, but to “finish the job”, there must be a focus on the most vulnerable communities.

As the region moves toward elimination, the challenge is not only whether existing tools remain effective, but also whether efforts are inclusive enough to reach those still at risk. While innovation offers added hope for malaria elimination, meaningful progress will hinge on adapting efforts to local realities and ensuring that even the weakest systems can deploy them effectively to reach the communities that need them most.

Finishing the job will require not just sustained investment and strong local leadership, but also an unwavering commitment on protecting the communities that malaria has yet to leave behind.
