Republic of Korea

Located in East Asia, the Republic of Korea is part of the WHO E2025 initiative.

In 2024, 640 indigenous malaria cases were reported, with 54 imported cases. To comprehensively and systematically eliminate malaria, the Republic of Korea has established a 5-year malaria elimination action plan with three objectives: universal access to malaria diagnosis and treatment, malaria surveillance and optimization of evaluation, and establishment of a system of cooperation across the public, private, and military sectors. In doing so, they aim to strengthen local government capacity.

Currently among the countries making up 1% of the Asia Pacific’s malaria burden, the Republic of Korea aims to eliminate malaria by 2030.
